World Arbitration Update 2022

The 2nd Edition of WAU successfully built on the momentum of its inaugural launch, expanding to new venues and bringing together even larger cohorts of practitioners, arbitrators, academics, and policy makers from four continents.

This edition reinforced WAU's core mission: to demonstrate that rigorous, thoughtful analysis of international arbitration developments is happening not just in Paris, New York, and London, but across the globe—from Bogotá to Dubai, from Singapore to Cape Town.

The 2nd Edition addressed pressing developments in treaty arbitration, the expansion of arbitration in Asia, evolving standards for investor protection and state rights, institutional arbitration trends, and the role of technology in dispute resolution.

With expanded participation from African arbitration institutions and practitioners, heightened engagement from Asian arbitration centers, and continued strong presence from the Americas and Europe, the 2nd Edition reinforced the decentralized nature of contemporary international arbitration practice.
